Gossip

Triple filtering my conversations would probably change them a lot, and make them more accurate. If i was to think before i said half the things i say i wouldn't be in near as much trouble as i usually am. I think triple filtering would help my conversations out a lot. I think people still gossip about other people because it makes them feel good to say bad things about someone else. It makes people feel like they are better then that person they are talking about. Cutting people down makes a lot of people feel good about themselves. It's not a good thing to do, or a good way to look at things but it's usually the way people go about things.

Literary Elements: TAKS PT 3

Satire- trenchant with, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly

Irony- the use of words to express something other than and esp. the opposite of the literal meaning

Analogy- inference that if two or more things agree with one another in some respects they will probably agree in others

Foreshadowing- to represent, indicate,or typify beforehand

Figurative Language

Figurative- departing from a literal use of words; metaphorical

Figure of speech- a written word or phrase used in a non literal sense to add rhetorical force to a spoken or written passage

Imagery- visually descriptive or figurative language especially in a literary work

Trope- a figurative or metaphorical use of a word or expression

They all make the writing sound better, and they also bring it to life in some ways. They are all away of using words.

Story Spinners: Option 1

As the old man approached my friends and me we realized he might have needed our help. I dropped my bicycle to go over and see what was going on. My friend Catie beat me to him and she asked him what was going on or what the deal was. In a gibberish manner he answered "I think someone broke into my house and took all my things." All of us just look at him for a second trying to make out exactly what he had said. After several minutes of uncomfortable silence we told we were sorry and we'd try to help find who did it.

The old man asked us to come over to his house and check out how much had been taken from him, so we agreed and took off on our bicycles to meet him there. Now i had always known this neighborhood to have no problems; everyone was real honest and friendly around here and most people watched out for me. When we got in the house and it didn't look like much of anything was gone i started to question the man and his honesty. I asked him exactly what was missing and he slammed the door behind him; I was right this guy was lying to us just to get us in his dirty mangy old house. I told him my mom would want us all home soon and to please let me leave now, but he told us no we had to stay till he was done with us.

I went to the restroom and just happened to find a flashlight because it was dark outside by now and i figured we'd more then likely need it if we ever got to leave. I went and told my friends what i had found and we tried to make up a plan on how to get out of there. Cassie suggested we drug him then sneak out the back door, and you know that girls a blonde but that did sound like a pretty good idea to me. So we were ready to try it we told him we wanted to make him some yummy tea so we could all sit and drink it. He allowed us to so Catie and Cassie snuck to the back to find some pills; they took so really strong pills of his. Catie put 6 of them in his drink and stirred it up till it was completely dissolved. We all sat down to drink our tea and we told him we really wanted to go home but he told us no he had plans for us and we weren't going home.

The old man fell into a deep sleep after drinking our concoction we gave him. We made our way to the backdoor and slowly snuck out of there. All three of us were barefooted but were ran like the wind down that ally. Catie dropped the flashlight and kinda slowed down for a minute but we jut left it because we were to scared to stop. When we got home we told my mom about it, and she called the cops and he was arrested for kidnapping us! We didn't know exactly what that man had planned for us, but i'm pretty sure we're glad we didn't. We out smarted that old fool and got away we probably even saved our lives that night!

My Heaven

When i think about heaven and what it would be like i think about sitting by Jesus and watching my family on Earth. I want my heaven to have all my family that has passed away so i can meet the ones i didn't know and reunite with the ones i did know. I can imagine my heaven being perfect and i don't think you'd really need stores and things like that because I think once you die you're not gonna need material goods! Heaven is perfect and none of those things matter once you make it there. I believe once I got there i wouldn't have anymore temptations except to try to come back down to Earth and help my family that needed help.

Lovely Bones

He calls it a perfect world because in that little globe the penguin has no worries or problems. He thinks it's perfect because the penguin just has to sit there and look cute and that's it has no worries or problems. She does consider herself trapped in her heaven because she can't really get out. At the same time though she still is able to communicate with her family somewhat. And no she doesn't see her heaven as a perfect world; she would much rather be on earth with her family.
